When a fungus attacks any toe or finger nail, or the skin under the nail, you get a fungal nail. Fungal infections can attack any part of your body.
The American Academy Of Dermatology states that toenails are more prone to fungal infections than fingernails because they are often in a confined, warm and moist space, like your shoes.
Fungi are accompanied by bacteria, so when the fungus start to overgrow, you are probably going to get an infection.
In a healthy body, the infection can`t do any serious harm, but it still looks bad, it hurts and the infected nails get damaged.
HOW TO GET RID OF NAIL FUNGUS?
The acid from vinegar makes it hard for the fungus to survive, plus it won`t damage the nail and the skin around it.
Baking soda is a fungistatic, meaning it won`t destroy the fungus but it will prevent it from spreading and growing.
For the recipe you will need:
- 1 cup of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar
- 4-5 tbsp. of baking soda
- Paper towels
- Mix the vinegar with water, enough to soak the feet in it. Soak them for 15 minutes, then pat them dry with paper towels.
- Dissolve the baking soda in water, enough to soak your feet in it. Soak them for 15 minutes, then completely dry them with the paper towels.
Repeat the procedure 2 times a day. Vinegar will kill the fungi, and the baking soda will stop new ones from growing.
Before the treatment, it is best to cut as much as you can the affected nails with a clean nail clipper. After using them, disinfect the clippers so that the fungus won`t spread.
