JUST IN: A bombshell report by the Washington Post alleges that President Trump boasted about highly classified intelligence in a meeting with the Russian foreign minister last week. He allegedly provided details that could expose the source of the information that it was collected.
The intelligence disclosed was about an ISIS plot, according to officials. The information and secrets provided was considered so sensitive that it was not shared widely within the United States government — nor was it passed on to other allies.
However, as the New York Times notes, “Trump’s disclosure does not appear to have been illegal — the president has the power to declassify almost anything. But sharing the information without the express permission of the ally who provided it represented a major breach of espionage etiquette, and could jeopardize a crucial intelligence-sharing relationship.”
Following the release of the report, the Trump Administration was quick to come out and call it false.
This is a developing story. We will keep you up to date as more information breaks.
